4 out of 5 stars Smell not quite what I expected, but it works for me   May 13, 2010

The scent actually smells nothing like a new car smell. That's where I would agree on the last review. But if you had followed some basic recommendations from the chemical guys site, you'd know that you have to dilute the stuff in distilled water to even out the smell. When I did a 1 is to 2 ratio on a small sprayer can (1 part chem guys spray, 2 parts water to be more concise), the smell now smelled more like the "new" car smell I was expecting. I couldn't pinpoint what smell it reminded me of, but it definitely smelled better diluted than in its pure form. Something like "new plastic", if that even makes sense.

A couple of sprays under the seats worked for me. The smell isn't overpowering or anything and you will barely notice it once you're inside your car for a while--but people who normally don't ride with you will definitely notice the smell once they step in your car. I'd say the scent lasts about a little over a week at most. I'd still recommend it for people who really don't want to have their cars smell like fruit or anything too strong. It's probably as close as you'll get to get your car smelling new, but if there's a different product out there I'd definitely try that out also. Just remember : DILUTE IT first.
